How It Began

I got started making jewelry at 5 years old when my mother introduced me to elastic string and pony beads. I would often make bracelets for my mother, aunts, cousins and grandmother, and sometimes they would give me a dollar for each of them. I made so many that I don't think they knew what to do with them! Then when I was 8 I started selling them at yard sales. I would sit with a tray table in the garden along our little country road with my bracelets and beads, crafting more as I waited for people to come.

Though I have made many changes to how I make jewelry and learned many new techniques, I still enjoy it just as much as I did then.

I've been fully self-taught until I took a metalsmithing class in the spring of 2015. I also taught a children's class in the summer of 2012.

I don't like to stick to just one style when I'm creating jewelry. I design as I go, rarely having an idea in mind before I create something; I think it's more fun that way.
